Troubleshooting

Common questions

My Apple Pencil isn't drawing anything

Usually this is Pencil only mode, on when you didn't expect it. Check it in Settings, and check the Pencil is charged and paired under iPad Settings. If it still will not draw, make sure the eraser is not the selected tool and the ink is not white on white paper.

An Ask failed or never arrived

Ask is the one feature that needs the internet, and a captive portal will block it silently. Write something on the page first, since there is nothing to read on a blank one, and check that the tutor is on for that notebook. If it keeps failing on a good connection, email us the error text.

How do I get a page out of the app?

Open the page, then use the More menu in the editor toolbar and export it as a PNG or a PDF. The standard iOS share sheet takes over from there. Exports include your handwriting and any tutor replies, exactly as they appear.

How do I delete my data?

Your notebooks are stored on your iPad, and in your own iCloud if you turned iCloud backup on.

  • A page: More › Move Page to Trash. You can restore it from the trash until you empty it.
  • A notebook: long-press it in the library and choose Delete.
  • Everything: delete the NoteFun app. If iCloud backup is on, remove the NoteFun data from your iCloud settings as well.

The selected page image and any included PDF text go through the NoteFun relay on Supabase to OpenRouter, which routes the request to a model provider for the reply. The request does not set a no-training or zero-data-retention option, so the providers' policies determine retention and training. See the privacy policy before including sensitive material.

Requirements

NoteFun runs on iPad with iOS 17 or later and is designed for the Apple Pencil. It is not an iPhone or Mac app.
