A Camera That Behaves

A precision zoom dial, a flash toggle, and your photo library one tap away for the packet you already photographed.

How It Works

From an unmarked envelope of seeds to knowing what it grows. No account, no setup.

1

Spread the Seeds

Open Sprout and point the camera. A few seeds on a plain surface read best. Use the zoom dial to fill the frame with the shape and the coat.

2

Take the Photo

Tap the shutter, or pull an existing photo from your library. Good daylight and an uncluttered background give the AI the most to work with.

3

Meet the Variety

Seconds later you get the name, the description, the details, and a confidence label. The find lands in your garden with its rarity and XP.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I identify a seed from a photo?

Spread the seeds on a plain surface, fill the frame, and tap the shutter. Sprout sends the photo for AI analysis and returns the variety, a short description, supporting details, and how confident it is.

Can Sprout tell me if a seed or plant is safe or edible?

No. Identifications are AI estimates for informational, educational, and gardening-hobby purposes only. Never eat, taste, plant for consumption, or handle any seed, seedling, plant, fruit, or fungus based solely on an identification from Sprout. Toxic seeds and plants closely resemble edible ones. Consult a qualified professional before acting on any identification.

What can Sprout identify besides loose seeds?

Seedlings and growing plants work too, so an unlabelled tray or a volunteer in the border is fair game. Alongside the variety you get its description, supporting details such as planting notes, and any cautions the analysis flags.

How accurate is the identification?

Every result carries a confidence label of High, Medium, or Low. Accuracy depends on lighting, framing, how clean the background is, and how distinctive the seed coat happens to be. Treat the result as a well-informed starting point, not a verdict.

Does Sprout keep my photos?

No. Photos travel over HTTPS to our backend, which passes them to Google Gemini for analysis and returns the result. They are processed transiently and are not retained by us afterwards. The copy saved with a find stays on your device.

What happens to a seed after I identify it?

It becomes a tile in your garden with your photo, its variety, its set, and its rarity tier. Finds earn XP toward ten levels from Sprout to Harvest, and feed daily quests, streaks, and badges.
