Privacy Policy
A keyboard sits close to the most personal writing you do. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app touches and what it does not.
Effective August 31, 20261. Summary
Whisper Glide ("we", "us") builds an iOS keyboard with voice dictation. We designed it so that the sensitive parts of your input never leave your iPhone.
- Audio is captured only in the main Whisper Glide app, and only while you are actively dictating.
- Speech is transcribed using Apple's on-device speech recognition by default.
- Audio recordings are never uploaded and never stored.
- Optional cloud cleanup sends only the transcribed text over HTTPS, and that text is not stored after processing.
- Your scratchpad, snippets, and settings stay in a private App Group container on your device.
- There are no ads, no tracking SDKs, and no analytics of what you type.
- Keyboard Full Access is used only for haptics and for communication between the app and the keyboard. It is never used to log keystrokes.
2. Information we collect
Information you create in the app
Whisper Glide stores the content you deliberately save: scratchpad notes, snippets, custom vocabulary, recent dictations, and your preferences such as cleanup style and haptics. This content is written to a private App Group container shared between the Whisper Glide app and the Whisper Glide keyboard on your device. We do not receive a copy of it.
Audio
When you hold to dictate inside the Whisper Glide app, the microphone is active and audio is processed for transcription. Audio exists only for the duration of that dictation and is released as soon as the session ends. We do not write recordings to disk for our own use, we do not transmit them, and we have no way to retrieve them.
Transcribed text
Transcribed text is placed in your document or your scratchpad. If, and only if, you enable optional cloud cleanup, the transcribed text of that dictation is sent to our processing endpoint so it can be polished and returned to you.
What we do not collect
- We do not log or transmit your keystrokes.
- We do not collect the contents of fields you type into with the keyboard.
- We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.
- We do not embed third party analytics, attribution, or advertising SDKs.
If you contact us for support, we receive whatever you choose to put in your email, such as your email address and your description of the issue.
3. Voice and dictation
Dictation runs in the main Whisper Glide app. The microphone is never opened by the keyboard extension on its own, and it is not left listening in the background for a wake word or any other trigger. There is no always on listening in Whisper Glide.
By default, transcription is performed by Apple's on-device speech recognition, which converts your voice to text locally on your iPhone. Depending on your device, your iOS version, and your language, iOS may fall back to Apple's server based recognition if on-device recognition is unavailable for that language. In that case Apple handles the audio under Apple's own privacy policy. You can avoid this by using a language with on-device support, or by not using dictation.
iOS will ask for your permission for both microphone access and speech recognition the first time you dictate. You can withdraw either permission at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy and Security.
4. How we use information
We use information for a short list of purposes, all of them in service of the feature you asked for:
- To deliver dictation. Audio is processed to produce text that is inserted where your cursor is.
- To clean up text. Filler words and false starts are removed, and your chosen style is applied, either on your device or through the optional cloud cleanup service.
- To offer suggestions. Autocorrect and next word suggestions are generated on your device from your local vocabulary and the text in the current field.
- To store what you save. Scratchpad, snippets, custom words, and settings persist locally so the app and keyboard both see them.
- To respond to support requests. If you email us, we use your message to help you.
We do not use your content to train models, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
5. Third parties
Apple Speech Recognition
Whisper Glide uses Apple's Speech framework to transcribe dictation. On-device recognition is used by default. Where iOS routes a request to Apple's servers, Apple processes that request under Apple's privacy policy, and we receive no copy of the audio.
Cloud cleanup processor
If you enable optional cloud cleanup, the transcribed text of a dictation is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our text processing endpoint, where a language model rewrites it in your chosen style and returns the result. Only the text is sent. Audio is never sent. The text is processed in memory to fulfill that single request and is not retained, logged as content, or used for training. If you leave cloud cleanup off, cleanup is handled on your device and no text is transmitted.
Apple App Store
Downloads, purchases, and subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple provides us with aggregate sales and download reporting. We never receive your payment details.
We do not use advertising networks, cross app tracking, or third party analytics services.
6. Keyboard Full Access
iOS asks you to grant "Allow Full Access" to third party keyboards. Whisper Glide requests it for two specific reasons:
- Haptics. iOS only permits a keyboard extension to produce haptic feedback when Full Access is enabled.
- App and keyboard communication. Full Access lets the keyboard read the shared App Group container, which is where your snippets, scratchpad, custom words, and settings live, and lets the keyboard hand off to the app for dictation.
You can disable Full Access at any time in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Whisper Glide. The keyboard will continue to type, without haptics, and without access to your saved snippets and settings.
7. Storage and retention
- Audio: held only in memory for the duration of a dictation, then discarded. Retention period: none.
- App Group data (scratchpad, snippets, custom vocabulary, recent dictations, settings): stored on your device for as long as you keep it. Deleting an item removes it. Deleting the app removes the container and everything in it.
- Cloud cleanup text: processed in memory to answer your request and not stored afterward.
- Support email: retained in our mailbox for as long as needed to resolve your issue and keep a reasonable support record. You may ask us to delete your correspondence.
Because your content lives on your device, uninstalling Whisper Glide is a complete deletion of the content the app holds.
8. Your choices and controls
- Microphone and speech recognition: grant or revoke at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security.
- Cloud cleanup: off unless you turn it on, and it can be turned back off at any time in the app's settings.
- Full Access: grant or revoke in iOS Settings, General, Keyboard.
- Your saved content: edit or delete individual scratchpad entries, snippets, custom words, and recent dictations inside the app.
- Everything at once: delete the app to remove all locally stored Whisper Glide data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little, most requests are answered by pointing you to the on-device controls above. For anything else, email us at adk0110112@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable period.
9. Security
Data stored by Whisper Glide sits inside your iPhone's app sandbox and App Group container, protected by iOS file protection and your device passcode or biometric lock. Any text sent for optional cloud cleanup travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but keeping data on your device and holding nothing on our side is the strongest protection we can offer, and it is the approach we chose.
10. Children
Whisper Glide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at adk0110112@gmail.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and post the new version here. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will make that clear in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Whisper Glide after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact us
Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy are welcome, and a real person reads them.
